Cowboys Take Coronado in Thrilling Finish

The  Coppell Tennis team faced a tough opening match in the Plano West Invitational yesterday, and the action against Lubbock Coronado was exciting and tense at the Coppell Tennis Center.

With the team scores knotted going into the final individual match, the overall outcome was on the line with advancement into the winner's bracket at stake.

Coppell Junior Maggie Stone battled hard pulled and through like her teammates had done earlier, securing the 10-9 team victory in an exciting finish.

As a result, the Cowboys then traveled to Highland Park in the afternoon to face the Southlake Carroll Dragons.

Despite keeping most individual matches very close, the Cowboys fell short in the team score, which could have gone either way.

The Cowboys return to action again on Saturday, facing the Allens Eagles at Allen High School.

Cowboys Open Season with Convincing Win

The Coppell Tennis started their season at home on on Wednesday, and did so in fine fashion.  The Cowboys started strong and got better from there, racing out to a 19-0 shutout win over FriscoCentennial at Coppell Tennis Center.

Cowboys Finish Great Fall Season as Region I Semi-Finalists

811 2014 Team Regionals Abilene 1The Coppell Varsity Tennis Team made their mark early at the UIL Regionals in Abilene last week, with an opening 10-5 win over San Angelo Central in the Quarter-Finals on Friday.  The Cowboys then faced top-seeded Plano West in the Semi-Finals on Saturday morning.  The Cowboys battled hard, with several close matches in progress when the match was eventually called in favor of the Wolves.

The #1 Seeded Plano West beat El Paso Coronado in the Final, advancing to the State Tournament next week in College Station.  They will join Houston Memorial, New Braunfels, and Highland Park in the battle for the 6A State Championship.

Supporting Coppell Tennis Fundraising Activities...

There are limited opportunities for the Coppell Tennis program to implement organized fundraisers.  With that said, we ask that you support the players, coaches, and Booster Club in the following activities...
  • Flower Sales (Fall & Spring)
  • Banquet Ticket Sales
  • Raffle
Coppell is fortunate to have some of the finest high school tennis facilities in the state, because of strong financial support from parents and the community.  We ask that you continue to support these efforts when the time comes and as more details are announced related to these activities.
More information about these will be posted here at the appropriate time.

Booster Club Membership

Here is your chance to show your support for Cowboy Tennis - Join us at the Annual "Meet the Team" and Parent Meeting on August 30th at 6:00PM in the CHS Commons.  This meeting is mandatory for players and parents, where you will have the opportunity to become a Member of the Tennis Boosters, purchase Coppell Tennis apparel, yard signs, stickers, bag tags, and much more!

Prepare in advance by downloading the forms linked below and having them filled out before you arrive...

The Coppell Tennis Booster Club welcomes you to Coppell High School Tennis. The Coppell Cowboys Tennis program has a rich history of success in team tennis and individual accomplishments, both on the tennis courts and in the classroom.  Many Cowboy tennis alumni have gone on to excel in the college ranks both athletically and academically, at some of the most prestigious universities in the U.S.

On the court, Cowboy tennis teams are consistently ranked among the top programs in the state of Texas, garnering numerous district titles, along with regional and state tournament advancements.

Our goal each year is to achieve 100% membership of player parents to our booster club. The club works diligently to provide support for our players, coaches and program.  We are a Section 501(c)(3) federal tax-exempt corporation.  Funds raised go directly to the benefit of ALL levels of the Coppell High School Tennis program. We traditionally help fund:

  • Season kick-off pizza and closing formal banquet
  • Homecoming parade float
  • Snacks and drinks at matches
  • Supplementary travel & meal expenses
  • Facility enhancements and additions (like new score keepers and stringing machine)

Traditional Photo from the Bush Tennis Center...

Following Coppell girls doubles playing in the last match of the entire tournament, the Cowboys took a short walk for their traditional Midland Tournament picture.
Each year, the team gets their picture taken by the oil well pump located within a serve’s toss of the George Bush Tennis Center.  Adding to the fun this year was Coach Foster, who captured a large west Texas tumbleweed on his walk to the oil pump.

Highest Coppell Finish Ever in Tough Midland Tournament

811 Best with TumbleweedThe Coppell Varsity Tennis Team traveled to Midland this weekend, for the Annual Tall City Invitational. This tournament is one of the most prestigious and competitive events in the state each year, touting such state contending teams as El Paso Coronado, Lubbock Coronado, Southlake, and of course, your Coppell Cowboys, plus many others.

The tournament configuration is designed to not only allow for advancement to individual championships in each of singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, but also has a team competition component based on performance by teams, which rewards teams with depth in all events at each position, including boys and girls divisions.

The Coppell program shined in this event more than ever previously, finishing in the top 3 for the first time ever, by means of a 2ndPlace Team finish. Each Cowboy player had a role in the success, as points were earned in every match based on results. The Cowboys had four entrants reach the Semi-Finals in their respective events, with two of those reaching the finals.

Cowboys Finish 2nd in Prestigious Tall City Tourney...

811 Best with TumbleweedThe Coppell Cowboys hit the road this weekend, for their annual trek to west Texas to play some of the stiffest high school competition in the state.  Facing many of the most talented and competitive high ranked players in Texas, the Cowboys not only held their own, they exceeded all previous Coppell team levels of acheivement at this Midland tournament.

Utilizing their own depth of talent throughout their roster, the Cowboys stepped up to the challenge in all areas, and were rewarded a 2nd Place finish, the first time Coppell has finished in the top 3 of the tournament.

Great Weekend Cowboys - Keep it going for District!
