Cowboy Tennis Teams Continue to Ride High...

Cowboys Roll

The Coppell Cowboy Tennis teams continue to perform at a very high level as they approach the final stretch of the Fall Team Season and the District Championship Tournament in October.

Riding the momentum from their win over State Champion Grapevine, the Varsity has won 5 of 7 matches since, only falling to two Top 10 ranked teams in extremely close and competitive matches.

The Cowboys are now 11-3 on the season, and still remain in 1st Place in District with an undefeated district mark of 5-0.

The Coppell JV also continues to impress, moving to 6-0 Overall and 5-0 in District competition.

Keep it Going Cowboys!!!

Cowboys Beat State Champs to End Great Week...

9 9 2016 Grapevine 1The Coppell Tennis program had already had a pretty good week, but the Varsity Cowboys made it a great week when they took down defending State Champion Grapevine in a tight and exciting dual on Friday night in Grapevine.

With the score knotted at 9-9 and the final match on court, the Cowboy players who had delivered the first nine victories provided tremendous support to their teammate to bring home that deciding 10th win.

The victory was the Varsity's sixth straight, and coupled with a 17-2 win earlier in the week over Lake Highlands, the Cowboys are now 6-1 overall and undefeated in districy play at 2-0.

Coppell has another busy week ahead, as they look to stay in first place in district when they take on W.T. White on Tuesday at Fair Oaks, and then face a tough Allen Eagle squad Friday in Allen.  There will be no time for a breather, as the Cowboys will then hit the road directly, when they travel from Allen to Longview on Friday for the annual Quad Tournament against Longview and Texas High, to be played starting early Saturday morning.

Not to be completely outdone by their Varsity brethren, the Cowboy JV brought home another 19-0 district win over Lake Highlands to bring their overall record to 3-0, and 2-0 in district.   The JV has captured both district wins by taking 38 straight individual matches.

Go Cowboys!

Cowboys Start Season Strong...

8 12 2016 Plano West Mixed DoublesAfter a rest over the summer followed by energetic and competitive tryouts, the Coppell Cowboys started their 2016-2017 campaign with a strong first couple of weeks of the Fall Team Season.

The Cowboy Varsity has compiled a 3-1 record thus far, with their most recent victory a 19-0 shutout of JJ Pearce to open district play at 1-0.

The Coppell JV is at 2-0 with two strong wins, showing show they will be strong again as usual.  They started with a nice 12-7 win over a very difficult Hebron squad.

The JV then opened defense of their 2015 District Championship with a 19-0 shutout win at JJ Pierce yesterday.

Cowboy Varsity completes the week today (Friday) when they host Byron Nelson at the CHS Tennis Center, with play beginning at 4:00PM.

Go Cowboys!!!

Cowboys "RIP" Rider Raiders...

RIP RHSThe "cup" fence sign from the recent Richland match was still applicable when the Cowboys played hosts to the Rider HS Raiders from Wichita Falls this past Saturday.

So, the Cowboys followed instructions by ripping the Raiders, traditionally one of the top 5A teams in the state, by a score of 15-4 at the CHS Tennis Center.

Coppell showed their resiliency, as several match victories were come-from-behind and/or 3-set tie-breakers that required a lot of physical and mental toughness.

JV & Freshman Perform Well...

IMG 2129Early into the season, the Coppell JV and Freshman teams are showing they have what it takes to carry on the Cowboy Tennis tradition of excellence.  A whole wagon train of Coppell players earned medals in the annual Fall Coppell JV Tournament, hosted at the CHS Tennis Center.

Varsity Beats Byron Nelson

IMG 3116The Coppell Varsity traveled to Byron Nelson today for a non-district invite match, and came home with a 16-3 victory.  The win is the Cowboy's 4th win a row, and they carry that momentum into their next match, a district tilt against Trinity next Tuesday September 8th at the CHS Tennis Center.

JV Opens District with Win over Blue Raiders

The Coppell JV Tennis team opened district play yesterday, and just like their varsity bretheren, they rolled to an nice opening win.  Looking to follow-up on last year's impressive JV results, the 2015-2016 team did just that by soundly defeating L.D. Bell 19-0 at the CHS Tennis Center.  Next action for the JV will be against the Trinity Trojans, next Thursday September 10th at the CHS Tennis Center.

Cowboys Open District with Big Win over L.D. Bell

Group 1

The Coppell Varsity Tennis team began their season last week against some very top competition in non-district play.  Those tough battles helped get the Cowboys ready for district play, and the first dividend paid off Tuesday.  Hosting the LD Bell Blue Raiders in the district opener, Coppell rolled to a 18-1 victory at the CHS Tennis Center.

Following an invite match on Friday at Byron Nelson HS, the Cowboys will take their 1-0 district slate into their next match, against the Trinity Trojans next Tuesday at the CHS Tennis Center.
